Employers
have a duty to assess the risks faced by lone workers to
determine: -
“
Whether the work can be done safely by an unaccompanied person,
and what arrangements will be required to ensure that the
person is not exposed to greater risks than employees who
work together.”
When you think of “lone workers” you automatically
think about doctors, district nurses, milkmen, salesmen,
postmen, meter readers, lorry drivers etc. However, in your
organisation, there are less obvious examples:-
Receptionists, maintenance men, teachers and lecturers, security
staff, cleaners and many more!
Most people at some time during their normal work activity
will be engaged in a solo activity out of sight or sound
of others. Similarly, someone has to be first to arrive at
work and someone will be the last to leave.
In this litigious society in which we exist, can your company
afford the cost, both financially and in downtime resulting
from an incident involving a member of your staff who has
been put at risk whilst at work?
At Eurotech, we specialise in tailor made solutions, to
achieve compliance with the aforementioned Health and Safety
Law.
Examples of these being:-
• Portable personal attack buttons
•
“Man Down” portable tilt switch devices
•
CCTV systems in reception areas and other “front
of house” areas
•
Meeting/Interview room alert systems
•
Plant room alert systems
•
Intercom and entry phone systems
All of the above can generate an audible alert locally,
be viewed elsewhere within the building or signal to our
24 hour monitoring centre.
